19thc Trade Sign
£1400
A 19thc original, hand painted trade sign from a horse drawn cart, advertising W.A. Trafford, a coal and coke merchant from Grimsby, North England.
Decorative shadow font, still retaining vibrant colour and images, with a decorative crazed staged finish to the old paint.
On each side are hand painted coal bags.
The sign still has the original wrought iron strapping, and hand forged bolts where it was attached to the cart.
It can be wall mounted and would look great above a fireplace.
Origin: English
Period: c1840
