A huge and very impressive portrait (oil on canvas) by the prolific artist Sir Herbert Von Herkomer.
In its very impressive, gold gilded, period, solid wood frame.
Sir Herberts work is still exhibited in galleries all around the world.
He was commissioned to paint Queen Victoria lying in state and was then commissioned by her successor Edward VII.
The subject in the portrait is believed to be Henry Tate of the Tate Gallery fame and the painting is signed and dated 1888.
