A huge, 19thc oil on canvas of The Mayor Of Oldham, Samuel Radcliffe Platt.
The artist John Maler Collier (1850-1934), a British Victorian Neo Classical painter.
Incredible well painted the painting has survived with no repairs or patches on the back.
Dating from 1891, it is displayed in an ornate frame with the mayors chain of office on each corner replicating the one worn in the sitting.
Originally housed in the Oldham art gallery and was completed in 1891.
