Rare Automotive Sign

£995

Very rare piece of automotive history, trade sign advertising motor wagons, dating from 1901 for the company Halleys.

A Glaswegian company that played a big part in WW1, having outlets in Birmingham, Manchester, London and Sunbury.

Halley Industrial Motors began making steam lorries in 1901, before changing to petrol lorries in 1906.

They supplied lorries to the war office at the outbreak of the First World War.

By the middle of 1916 they were making 10 lorries a week.

Due to the availability of raw materials this reduced to 3 lorries a week as they supported the war effort.
