19thc Half Hull Models

£1800

A collection of 3 19thc, half hull moulds, depicting 19thc London barges.

These models were created by shipwrights as a design tool to plan a ships hull shape, ensure symmetry and visualise the sheer before construction began.

They are exact scale replicas of one half of a ships hull, made from pine and would have been mounted on a back board.

There are hand drawn lines, measurements and shipwrights notes still visible on each model.

Half hull models provide valuable insights into historical ship building practices and the evolution of ship building.

These are now incredibly collectable as sculptural wall art.
